for 28^η this year the Aegean Team will be close to the inhabitants of the small and critical islands to offer its services, in a difficult time, where the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic must be dealt with and help to return to everyday life.

During the 11 days of Diaplo, the inflatable boats of the Aegean Team - with 100 volunteers, doctors from 15 different specialties, nurses and specialized paramedical staff - will travel more than 500 nautical miles to offer medical services to the inhabitants of even the most remote island!

Starting this year, our new acquisition, a state-of-the-art portable chest ultrasound scanner, is added to the medical diagnostic equipment of the Aegean Group!

With the latest technology, this portable machine provides diagnostic accuracy greater than a tomograph with a painless and non-invasive examination.

With ultrasound we can offer sophisticated lung examinations covering every condition, including Covid.

In fact, to those who have been ill with Covid-19 lung damage that may remain after the disease can be assessed.

With the portable ultrasound scanner we will examine residents even the most remote house.

It is noted that such ultrasound scanners are very few and only in large hospitals, in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Implementing the cooperation of the Aegean Group with the Hellenic Pulmonary Society (H.P.E.), the Hellenic Rheumatology Society & Professional Association of Rheumatologists of Greece (H.E.P.E.-E.P.E.P.E.), the Hellenic Anticancer Society (E.A.E.), the Hellenic Dermatology Society (HSE) and the Hellenic Red Cross, the residents will once again be given the opportunity to meet their essential needs in such a sensitive area as that of health, with the trust and reliability that distinguishes us.

Residents will be able to carry out medical and microbiological / biochemical tests. A Post COVID clinic will also operate on each island.

During the Diaplo, all protocols to limit the spread of COVID-19 will be strictly observed and rapid tests will be carried out on the inhabitants of the islands and the volunteers of the Mission.

The Aegean Team will donate medical equipment in health facilities, equipment in schools along with educational materials and will implement, like every year, infrastructure, necessary to facilitate living conditions on the islands. At the same time, it will organize sports, cultural and environmental actions.
