The Group sailed from Lagonisi on the morning of the 13thth May 2010.
First stop of this year's 16th Across the street was Kimolos.
The boats arrived at the port of Kimolos at 1 in the afternoon and immediately after the transport, installation and
commissioning of machinery and equipment got to work so that everything would be ready at 5 pm for the
start of medical examinations.
A team of doctors visited the Nursing Home, examined patients and blood was taken.
The exams were repeated the next day, 14/5 until noon, when equipment and machines
they were disconnected, repackaged and transferred to the Team vessels.
In the schools of the island, educational and pedagogical materials were offered as well as various gifts.
The Group had organized a shadow theater performance which was attended by young and old.
The results of the examinations that were carried out were a pleasant surprise because they far exceeded the estimates.
188 cases were examined in the clinics and 110 blood samples were taken for hematological and biochemical tests.
In addition, doctors of surgery and plastic surgery performed 3 removals of skin lumps
which were also sent for histological examinations and in 4 excisions of skin lesions.
In the afternoon, the Group set sail for Sikinos.
The entrance to the harbor turned into an emotional celebration. Many residents led by the President of the Community
Giannis Syrigos and the members of the Community Council were at the dock waiting for the Group. The smoke generators lit it up
one after the other and the car horns blared incessantly.
For the evening of May 14, the Group had organized, in collaboration with the Community, a cultural evening with
traditional songs and dances led by Vangelis Zagorea's violin. During its duration, its President
Community offered the Team a gift of a symbolic nature, two hands in a handshake of aid union and
of mutual support, and the President of the Aegean Group offered souvenirs and informed the residents about the
progress of the desalination process.
The following day, 81 cases were examined by the doctors of the Team and 64 residents were submitted to
hematological and biochemical tests. In addition, there were 2 excisions of facial skin carcinomas that were sent
for histological examinations and 3 removals of skin lesions.

In the afternoon, the Team set sail for Heraklion. The guide from the residents was just as moving as in
arrival. In Heraklia, clinics and the microbiological laboratory were organized in the same way. They also came
50 residents were examined and an equal number of blood samples were taken. There were also 2 excisions of skin lesions and 1 per
home removal of a skin lump in a child and sent for histological examination.
May 16, next stop is Schinousa.
The bad weather conditions did not allow the inflatables of the Team to tie up in the Port and for this reason, after the
unloading equipment, machinery and baggage, skippers and co-skippers, sailed to leeward
bay in the east of the island where they anchored.
In the evening, the members of the Group together with the inhabitants of the island, had the opportunity to enjoy the Cultural
Center nice event organized by the Community with the participation of young people and children of the island who played music,
they sang and danced traditional dances. Gifts were exchanged between the Team and the Community.
Before the end of the event, the Team presented little Dimitris Simos, a child with an innate talent for music, the
rhythm and dance, a lute in her attempt to save and strengthen the musical folk tradition.
The following day, gifts, educational and educational materials and equipment were offered to the Schools.
In Schinoussa, 100 residents were examined and 52 underwent blood sampling, and 2 skin lumps were removed which
they were sent for histological examinations and 3 excisions of skin lesions.
On the afternoon of May 17, the Team left Schinousa behind and set sail for Donoussa where the inflatables
they tied up shortly after 7pm. It was the first day the Team had a free afternoon to rest.
The next day, 18/5, medical examinations began in the morning with 87 cases and 44 blood draws. Removed 2
skin lumps sent for histological examination and 1 opening of a neglected spinal abscess in a young
patient.

The team leaves behind the Small Cyclades and at dawn on May 19 will pass to the Dodecanese with the first
station in Patmos and then Arkios to spend the night in Lipsi.
The ships of the Group, sailing in formation, crossed Ikarios and arrived early in the morning in Patmos. She was the third
visit of the Team to Patmos within a year. A team of doctors was sent to Arkios where 15 were examined
residents.

The remaining members of the Group went up to the country where Haris Kladis, one of the oldest members, inaugurated the
playground built by the School Team.
The Mayor of Patmos, members of the Municipal Council, teachers and students were present and thanked the
Team with the best words. At the same time, they expressed their desire and hope that the Group would visit the island again
more often highlighting the Group's valuable contribution to both infrastructure projects and the provision of medical services.
Early in the afternoon, on the way to Leipsos, the boats of Patmos met those that had gone
to Arkios and all together sailing in formation entered the Port of Lipsi.
As soon as the inflatables approached the quayside, we heard the bells of Panagia tou Haros ringing merrily. The whole
island was in the port and the Municipality's philharmonic band was playing encores.
As soon as we tied up and got out of the boats, we hugged the Mayor and our friends and fellow citizens
residents of the island while young students offered us roses.
Immediately the Municipality band started the island songs while the students dressed in local costumes started the
dance.
The women of the island befriended us doubles and treated us"seal” their local wine. The children
they asked for a ride on the inflatable and as soon as they boarded, their happy voices filled the harbor.
The children of the dispensary installation team, quickly putting aside the festive atmosphere, loaded into the
car of the Municipality with the machines and equipment and they started setting up the clinics.
Doctors of the Group had organized and presented speeches to the residents of the island at two independent events
enriched with slides on gynecological cancer and testicular cancer. It was interesting that in
at the end of the speeches many questions were asked by the attendees. Group Newsletters with
corresponding topics were distributed to listeners and residents.
In the evening, we attended the wine celebration organized by the Mayor on the night of our arrival. the band
played many songs from different parts of our country and danced to them by local bands, residents and members
team's.
The next day in the morning, the microbiology department started work at 7:30 and the clinics at 9.
The attendance of the people surpassed all previous ones.
Blood samples were taken on 96 residents, of which 24 were done at home on bedridden patients and in fact under
difficult conditions because due to a long power cut there was no lighting in the houses. 220 were examined
cases, 4 skin lumps were removed and sent for histological examination and 1 breast cancer biopsy
sent for staging.
The microbiology team managed to complete all the blood tests and the
more biochem. The rest were sent to Athens where they will be completed and sent to the Omnipotent
Lipsi Medical Center within 3-4 days.

Early in the afternoon, with the end of the clinics and the transfer of the machines and equipment to the boats, the Mayor
he offered us an appetizer
and immediately after, we boarded the inflatables and set off for Agathonisi.
The Team arrived in Agathonisi in the late afternoon.

In the evening, the members of the Group were guests of the President of the Community who, in a short speech,
he referred to the close ties of the island's inhabitants with the Group, to the work offered on the island and offered
in the Group if commemorative plaque.
The members of the Team had the opportunity to meet the border guards of the European Union (Frontex Team),
Portuguese and Lithuanians with two high-speed inflatable boats.
The next day, May 21, 39 cases were examined, 16 blood draws and 1 removal were performed

At noon the weather began to deteriorate, the wind speed exceeded 20 knots and the sea began to come in

for loading and unloading. The Group left at 6 pm for Corseon Furnaces. Sailing was under
rain lashing the faces.
On arrival, the weather did us a favor and stopped the rain long enough for the residents to welcome us with smoke bombs,
sparklers and dynamite.
Girls from the island offered us loukoumia and tsipouro.
In the evening, there was the inauguration of the multi-purpose field built by the Team at the high school of Fourni.
The veteran basketball player and for many years captain of the National Basketball Team, already Honorary Team Captain
Panathinaikos basketball Francis Albert, responded to the invitation of the Group gave the present
at the ceremony and with her Denise Tsimi and Kyriakos Papadea, Team members,
they cut the opening film.
All those present had the opportunity to enjoy the School's band and choir in many well-known performances
songs.
Many residents, especially teenagers, rushed to take pictures with him. Unfortunately, the continued rain did not
allowed Francis and the members of the Team to face off against the corresponding team in the Furnace. But, the
Francis, offered the high school two basketballs with the signatures of Panathinaikos players.
The next day, May 22, there were clinics. 208 patients were examined (of which 6 at home),
99 blood tests whose results with the corresponding opinions were delivered on the same day and 2 withdrawals
skin nodules sent for histological examination.
With the end of the clinics, all machines and equipment, with the exception of those that would be used the next day
day in Thymaina, packed for the return trip.
In the afternoon we had the Shadow Theater performance, and in the evening, the Group went by boat to Keramidou where the
inauguration of the water supply network constructed by the Group.

May 23, last day of the crossing.
We went to Thymaina with the inflatables for medical examinations. The day before, 44 blood draws had already been done.
By noon, 45 patients and 6 at home were examined. The 16th cross had come to an end. On the 1st
midday, we took the return road, crossing Ikarios with bunatsa.
When we left Thymaina, residents were on the roofs of their houses waving tablecloths while
young children had lit flares and smoke generators.
